Cat 6500 MSFC2 vs Router-on-a-stick

In our network we have a Cat 5500 core switch and a router 4700 acting as router-on-a-stick (LANE, ATM backbone). We´re planning to replace 5500 by 6509 with PFC/MSFC2 and replace ATM backbone by Gigabit. Do I still need a router-on-a-stick or can MSFC2 perform this task?

Re: Cat 6500 MSFC2 vs Router-on-a-stick

MSFC2 will perform all the "router on a stick" Layer 3 functions internally to the 6509. No need for the external router for inter vlan routing.

Hope this helps,

Don
