Cat4000 and port-security sticky?

Hello,

I'm about to enable port-security on the network. I'm logged onto a Cat4000 and am not getting a valid "switchport port-security mac-address sticky" option?

Do I have an OS that's too old? If so, does anyone have a write up on how to properly update the IOS to the most current on a Cat4000?

output from "sh ver"

Re: Cat4000 and port-security sticky?

Sticky feature is supported from 12.2(18)EW and later and hence you need to upgrade IOS.

I suggest 12.2(25)EWA4

Hi,

You are on L3 routing blade.See this : IOS (tm) Catalyst 4000 L3 Switch Software (cat4000-I9S-M), Version 12.1(19)EW1,

You cannot enable port security on routing blade, its a L2 feature you have tio be on CAT OS side.

Please connect the console on Sup engine and then enable the port-security on that.or telnet inot sup engine

Set port-security enable

Re: Cat4000 and port-security sticky?

Hi,

Sorry for my last post, I got confused with the Cat 4000 ky word that you have mentioned. Actually you are have Cat 4503 with IOS sup. Aah.. I remember on time.

Now, to your problem, I checked the command refrence for the IOS youi are running on Sticky option is not supported in the IOS you are running. The Sticky keyword was added in IOS release 12.1.20EW.. So you have to atleast on 12.1.20EW or later release than that.

Check for the release notes of 12.1.20EW

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/12_2_20/cmdref/snmp_vtp.htm#wp1144883

Sorry for the earlier mistake.

regards,

-amit singh
