Cat4500 PIM-SM tunnelling

Hi

can someone advise on how the SE4 handles via PIM-SM the tunnelling of packets from a Designated router to a RP ? Is it done by the ASICs or via the CPU ? What kind of PIM-SM performnace can we expect and is it subjected to the number of S,G/*,G pairs ?

As far as I can remember, it is done on CPU only. There is not much of documentation on this, as this product is in EOL stage.
