Cat4510R how to configure SFP GigE Port on Sup V-10GE

I have a Cat 4510R with SUP V-10GE running

under IOS cat4000-i9k91s-mz.122-25.EWA5.bin

Configuring and connecting one of the SFP

GigE Port as a trunk does not work. Here is

my configuration

interface GigabitEthernet1/6

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,128,192,400

switchport mode trunk

when configuring on of the GigE ports I get the warning:

c4k6-ikp-1(config)#interface GigabitEthernet1/4

% WARNING: Interface GigabitEthernet1/4 is usable/operational only in gigabit

% uplink configuration.

What does it mean ?

Thanks in advance greetings Manfred

Hi,

You can use either the sfps or the 10 gigs on this platform. You probably have the default config on it, "hw-module uplink select tengigabitethernet"

which means, "Use the 10 gig uplinks". Your sfps will always be inactive in this configuration. If you want to use the SFP ports instead, configure

"hw-module uplink select gigabitethernet"

Bobby

Hope that helps, please rate helpful posts
