CAT6009 - MSFC2 in perm. router(boot) mode

I have a cat6009 with 2 SUP1A and PFC/MSFC2. When I enter into router-15

I find it in permanent boot mode. Router-16 is fine. I´m pretty sure that both supervisors have exaclty same ver. software installed. I have searched Cisco site for modifying boot variables and have tried them, but to no avail.

Please HELP!!!!

Set the bootvariable using the command

config t

boot system flash bootflash:

config-register 0x2102

end

wr mem

reload

At this point the MSFC should boot up fine. If not, post the output of

sh boot

dir bootflash:

Re: CAT6009 - MSFC2 in perm. router(boot) mode

Believe it or not. Honestly, I have ANOTHER supervisor with the same problem and I obviously used your previous advice but this time it stays in boot mode. Here goes outputs:

Router(boot)#sh boot

BOOT variable = bootflash:c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1,1;

CONFIG_FILE variable = bootflash:c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1,1

BOOTLDR variable = bootflash:c6msfc2-boot-mz.121-4.E1

Configuration register is 0x2102

Router(boot)#dir bootflash:

Directory of bootflash:/

1 -rw- 1611604 Apr 18 2001 17:12:26 c6msfc2-boot-mz.121-4.E1

11 -rw- 462 Dec 13 2002 02:53:13 c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1

13 -rw- 464 Dec 13 2002 03:02:20 c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1,1

15204352 bytes total (2737428 bytes free)

Re: CAT6009 - MSFC2 in perm. router(boot) mode

The c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1 files you have in bootflash are incomplete. They are only 462 and 464 bytes. Delete both and TFTP a good image and you should be good to go

Re: CAT6009 - MSFC2 in perm. router(boot) mode

I have realised that. I deleted them already. I then copied to tftp the c6msfc2-is-mz.121-4.E1 from my good msfc to tftp. I also used the squeeze command to release space. BUT when I try to copy back from tftp, the tftp crashes.

I have no hair left from pulling it out. Please help!
