cat6500 flowcontrol

Hi,

I have a server connecting via 1Gbp ethernet to a 6509. looking on the counters of this port I have no errors other than the Txpause value is high. and users who access this server say access is slow. please see output below.

The server NIC configuration states flow control is set to auto.

has anyone got any ideas what this error means, i.e. which end is pausing data.

Core_2> (enable) sh port flowcontrol 8/41

Re: cat6500 flowcontrol

Hi,

pause frames are sent in case receive buffers get full. You can turn this off with "set port flow control"

Have a look at

Hope this helps

Re: cat6500 flowcontrol

Hi Martin, Thanks for replying.

What if any is the result of turning off flowcontrol. Because no flowcontrol is in place, will data start to be dropped, and errors occur.
