Hi

can someone advise on the expected downtime in the event of a SE2A failure when running native IOS mode with the 6816 blades ?

I know the HA feature in CatOS is fast but i am not sure about IOS. Do i need to run HSRP across the two MSFCs on the SE2s ?

tks

Pete

Pete,

With Native IOS you have RPR+ feature which will, if diagnostics are set to bypass, boot up on Sup failure in 30 seconds.

Here's a link on this:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800da705.html

If Diags are run and you have OSMs this time is a bit longer. If you are not using RPR but the default ESHA functions this time is longer still. There is no SRM function in IOS so you can't run HSRP between the MSFC's since only one can be active at a time.

Hope this helps,

Don
