Can anyone tell me why the Sup1a GBIC port would be in Standby mode and will not recognise a GBIC when inserted?

Thanks

Re: CAT6500 sup1a GBIC port in Standby mode??

Is it a 3rd Party GBIC - or a Cisco GBIC?

Re: CAT6500 sup1a GBIC port in Standby mode??

I have tried three different GBICs.

The port shows standby with or without a GBIC inserted??

Re: CAT6500 sup1a GBIC port in Standby mode??

Hi John,

Take another look. The sup in slot 1 is running 8.3(2), and the sup in slot 2 is running 6.3(10). Once the standby sup is running the same CatOS, the ports will no longer show a status of "standby."

HTH,
