Cat6506 WS-C6506 Software, Version NmpSW: 7.1(2)

All:

??

I changed the snmp default community strings like a good boy, and now I want to copy run to start and start to tftp.

I'm missing something: cp run start ; I'm getting amessage that the CatOS can't find the file.

Anyone have a link to a handy command reference?

With the Catalyst OS, any change you make is immediately saved to NVRAM. There is no copy run start command or equivalent. To save your configuration you need to copy config tftp or write network.

These commands will only copy the non-defaults (like the IOS). If you want the entire configuration defaults and non-defaults use the command copy config tftp all or write network all.

The following link explains how to work with CatOS config files:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/sw_7_1/conf_gd/config.htm

I do not know of an on-line reference for comparing IOS to CatOS commands, however there is a book by Cisco Press called Cisco Field Manual: Catalyst Switch Configuration that shows how to perform common configuration tasks and compares IOS and COS commands for these tasks.
