I am planning to move these switches to a new power source and I do not want to power them off. Each switch has 2 power supplies of equal values and both are in redundency mode. one switch is full of blades (6509) and the other is about 80% full. The docs on the Cisco website are not clear. New and old power sources are of equal value as well.
Can I run the switch on a single power supply for a short period of time while I transfer to the new power source?
Re: Cat6509 (1300W) and 6513 (2500W) power supplies
Yes, you can see here, if your SYSTEM POWER USED is smaller than the SYSTEM POWER TOTAL, you can use only one PS to work well. But remember, 2 PS with different Watts(the Power Capacity) CAN'T be worked together!!!
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
