Cat6509 don´t process IP options Packets "route record"

Hi,

in my network are two Distribution Switches - same Hardware, Software and Configuration Scheme.

If I send an IP Options Ping "ping -r 9 xx.x.x.x" to or. from SW-1 or. an access switch behind him, everything works fine.

If I send the same ping to SW-2 or. an access switch behind him it doesn´t work. But a normel ping is OK. Only an extended Ping to it´s own IP interface works.

There are no access-lists or. IP options configured.

The Cat6500 use native IOS and CEF. Normally I think CEF should do "process switching" with all IP packets, where the IP options flied is enabled.

How can I debug If the packets are directly switched or not ??

Has anyone an idea to troubleshoot this scenario ??? (softly troubleshooting - it´s an high critical maschine !!!)

Re: Cat6509 don´t process IP options Packets "route record"

Do a huge ping maybe 100 packets at a time and see which count is increasing in the show interface on the input interface. If the Route cache counter is increasing then it is getting Process switched. If the Distributed cache is increasing then it is CEF switched. I guess this should be the easiest way to troubleshoot this without loading the switch much.
