cat6k SUP2 power down, if one power supply fails

Hi guys,

I have a cat6kSup2, which power down, if one (of two) power supply fails.

I think that´s not normal.

Does anyone have some experience with this.

A "show env status" shows, that both power supplies look fine, so I think the cat6ksup2 should be running with only one power supply.

thanks in advance

Re: cat6k SUP2 power down, if one power supply fails

Hello,

I have checked that the 6148 is a module that sources in-line power. This power is, of course, drawn from the power supply in the switch. If there is a considerable power-drain from the module, and you are using the standard 1300W power supply modules, it might be possible that the total power requirement exceeds the possibilities of a single power supply.

There are power supplies that can source 2500W. To remain redundant, you should use these instead.

Regards,

Leo

The "show power" looks fine, so it´s very strange, that the cat powers down

cat6ksup2#show power

system power redundancy mode = redundant

system power total = 852.60 Watts (20.30 Amps @ 42V)

system power used = 511.14 Watts (12.17 Amps @ 42V)

system power available = 341.46 Watts ( 8.13 Amps @ 42V)
