Catalyst 1900 throughput

Can anyone help me prove or disprove a customer who is insisting that he can get no more than 7Mbps from a 10Mbps port on a Catalyst 1900? Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Catalyst 1900 throughput

Well... depends on alot of things like Ethernet cabling type (Cat 3, Cat 5) and length, NIC type, segment loading, etc, but a FULL DUPLEX port on the 1900 has a theoretical throughput of 20 MB! A switch like the 1900 should get 80-90% of that, so you're looking at more like 16-18 MB . Even 10 MB half duplex should be about 8 to 9 MB.
