Catalyst 2924XL with no base MAC address!!!

This is the weirdest thing I have seen in awhile. I just purchased 3 2924XLs, new in box. But each switch does not have a base mac address(set to all zeros)

Is this possibly a diagnostic mode?

I would appreciate any help.

Re: Catalyst 2924XL with no base MAC address!!!

Try to take a look into the env_vars.

This can be done by SET command.

If there is no variable for MAC address, you can type it in by the SET command.

eg. SET MAC_ADDR nn:nn:nn:nn:nn:nn

The correct MAC address should be written on a lable attached at the back plane.
