Catalyst 2950 Switch port disable

Hi,

I have a problem with a switch catalyst. Sometimes, PC cannot connect to the network.

The switch port is in state : DISABLE, and i when i use the IE to manage the switch, i cannot switch the port to Enable. The port is still disable.

The solution is to iniate a telnet connection and doing the following :

CONF T

INT FASTETHERNET 0/12

SH

NO SH

EXIT

The port is now Enable.

Important :

- When the PC cannot connect the network, if i change the port , the connection is OK.

- I have this problem on severals port.

Some errors, if they happen often enough, will cause the switch to shut the port down. Late collisions (most often caused by duplex mismatches) is an example. Next time it happens, check the switch's logs -- there should be a log entry that indicates why the port was shut down.
