Catalyst 2950 - Using 802.1X with VLAN Assignment

The link below mentioned that, for this feature to work, vendor-specific tunnel

attributes (64, 65, 81) in the RADIUS server should be assigned.

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/12119ea1/2950scg/sw8021x.htm#1066886

After configuring the Cat 2950 for 802.1X, it looks like the switch doesn't

accept/know attribute 81. Looking at the IOS security configuration guide's

appendix (RADIUS Attributes), it seems that attribute 81 is not supported.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800ca7b3.html#1038515

The RADIUS server was configured with the required AV-pair but the VLAN

assignment for the Windows XP host fails.

Am I missing something important here?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Catalyst 2950 - Using 802.1X with VLAN Assignment

the second documentation you link refers to MAINLINE IOS but the 2950 runs special 12.1E train, so this doesn't apply

there must be some other problem, where from do you know the switch doesn't support attr 81?

need debugs to understand this.

Re: Catalyst 2950 - Using 802.1X with VLAN Assignment

Thanks Marton for your reply. We didn't notice that the switch was a C2950-24, i.e. with SI software only. 802.1X with VLAN assignment requires an EI version. I guess we missed one of the basic requirements.
