catalyst 2950

Hi

I am trying to put a regular switching hub to one of the ports on a catalyst 2950. for some reason i cannot communicate between the catalyst and the third party switch. I checked the port security setting, its disabled. I could not figure out whats wrong. Need help

Hi,

first of all, is it a switch or a hub that you're trying to connect? Secondly, is the catalyst switch port lighting up? If not then check your cable. You'll probably need a crossover. If the port is lit up then check for speed/duplex mis-matches at each end of the link. Set both to the same speed and duplex (ie not auto) to play safe.
