I have a question about the Cisco Switch catalyst 2950SX 24 ports (Standard Image)

Is it possible to configure the two GBIC

(1000Base-SX) ports in two different VLAN (802.1Q)?

Or the second GBIC port is usable only for

backup/protection of the first GBIC port?

Hello Renzo,

You may configure the two GBIC ports exactly as you like. Configure them as trunks using 802.1Q or set them up as access ports thus serving a single vlan.

However, when the ports are both connected to the same vlan in either mode, one of the links will be blocked by spanning tree.
