I am working with a customer that has recently moved from ATM to Gigabit
Ethernet using 3550-12T switches and they have a question regarding
overall performance on the new Ethernet segment. Currently they are
getting about 16 MBytes/sec using 1500 byte packets of throughput between
servers. The server tech support states that they would expect about 35
MBytes/sec. Has anyone done any testing or actual production knowledge
to know what the expected throughput of the 3550 should be?

Although I have not verified this myself, you can compare your findings with this datasheet

Thanks, however, I am looking for real-life information rather than the marketing data. The customer is trying to determine if there is any further tuning required for his servers to make the best of use of the network. However, he needs to know what thresholds are really out there.
