Hi guys,

trying to find out how to activate Temperature Alarm on

my Cisco Catalyst 4006 using Sup 3 engine. Would like

to configure certain threshold temperature for auto shutdown

to avoid module hardware damage because of inconsistent

temperature. I did a show system at the Cat 4 enable prompt

and temp-alarm status is "off" . How do you turn it "on then ?

Any ideas ?

A temp-alarm status of off does not indicate that the alarm has been disabled. Rather it indicates that all is fine and that temp is within the designed tolerance range. I guess a better phrase might have been something like "No Alarm" or "temp normal".

The temp alarm cannot be disabled. You system seems to be working perfectly. The auto shutdown feature is alredy built in to prevent system damage due to overheating. If I remember correctly, system shutdown will occurs if temp exceeds 75C. However, please note that some older versions did not support this feature, ie they only reported high temperatures. Recent versions come with the auto power off facility.
