Hi!
I got a Cataylyst 4006 switch which has a fault fan tray(2 fans are faulty). My question is that is it hot swapable without powering off? It's a core switch for us, so i can't shut it down.
Is it possible just to change 2 of the fans only rather than changing the whole unit?

Hi,
You can remove the fan assembly without powering off the switch. However, you need to quickly replace it with a working assembly. If not, you are going to experience an over-temperature condition on the switch.
Refer to the following document for instructions on fan replacement:
Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.

You can replace the fan tray while the switch is up. If the chassis detects that there is no fan tray for 5 minutes, it powers itself down.
You cannot replace individual fans in the tray. You will need to replace the entire tray.
