Dear All,

I noticed a peculiar event happening to a 4507R with Active SUP IV in slot 1 and Standby SUP in slot 2. The active and standby where in RPR mode.

I used logging console and checked that all change where synched with the standby sup. Then I hardware resetted to checvk the failover using the reset switch. The following occured

The standby sup became active but the original active sup hanged and was not responding . The show module command showed only mac address of the sup in slot 2 and other modules. The slot 1showed no mac address of the sup 1.

Even rebooting the switch worsened the problem as the sup in slot 2 also went in hang state.

Kindly help

Regards

Kaustav

I have worked extensively with cat4500. Based on the experience, the supervisor probably is not able to boot up the correct image due to boot variable or configuration register issue.

Use the following document that I wrote for step by step assistance.
