Catalyst 6006

Can anyone tell me the difference between

WS-X6K-SUP2-MSFC2 (Supervisor 2 with PFC2 and MSFC2)

AND

WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2 (Supervisor Engine-2, 2GE plus MSFC-2 & PFC-2) ?

The bottom line:

Can I install and run WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2 on the Cat 6006 switch?

Re: Catalyst 6006

There is no such part number such as WS-X6K-SUP2-MSFC2. The correct part number for Sup2/MSFC2 is WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2.

Yes, a Sup2 can be used in 6006 chassis. The CAT600x series has a backplane bandwidth of 32 Gbps and hence you cannot have a SFM module in it. Also the 600x series is end of sales

Found a useful URL:

I believe it confirms my idea that you can use this type of board in your chassis.
