Currently have 2 Catalyst 6509's running with:
set boot config-register 0x2
Can anyone tell me what 0x2 (hex 2) indicates? Or point me to a URL that will have this info?
Thanks!!

I think earlier Cisco shipped few of the Cat6500 Chassis with configg register set to 0x2 for RP. We faced lot of difficulties with this setting. Please make it 0x102.
0x2 enables break key....If you press break key accidentally your RP (MSFC) goes to "rommon" mode where it stops routing activities. connecting any faulty terminal to your console potnetially makes vulnerable with config regoster set to 0x2
If you have EHSA configured (With native IOS), I strictly recommand you to change this to 0x102 as EHSA switchover does not happen. Refer to bug id CSCdy26044.
0x102 is safe from all aspects.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your input. My MSFC2 card is already set for 0x102. I was referring to the Sup1A card which shows:
set boot config-register 0x2
My version is 5.5.12
Thanks!
