catalyst 6509 losing ip connectivity with Novell server
Replacing our switches in our enterprise with Cisco Catalyst 6509 switches. On 2 of our Nover 5.1 servers four hours after the switch was upgraded we lost ip connectivity to the network, I could not ping the default gateway from the server, I could ping myself. Ipx services was still working though. IP connectivity was only restored by resetting the switch port. This has occured on 2 different models of server (one has a ce100b lan card and the other has a pcntnw card) The problem occurs very infrequently but it can happen at any time of the day or night. Have you heard of any problems with catalyst 6509 switches and Novell servers.

You may also want to make sure that the ports aren't going into 'err-disable'. Basically, this means that the Novell server may be trying to auto-negotiate, and starts causing errors on the port. The switch will put the port into 'err-disable' to prevent that port from causing issues on the network...
You can do a 'sh port' when this occurs to see if the port is in err-disable.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
