Re: Catalyst 6509 power-bad status

Hi Lee

"power-bad" indicates that the switch is able to see the card, but unable to allocate power. This is because of the Supervisor Engine is not able access the serial PROM (SPROM) contents on the module in order to determine the identification of the line card.

You have to reset the module.

Use command "hw-module module 3 reset" and let us know.

Hope this helps

Re: Catalyst 6509 power-bad status

This command is not available the version of software i am using.

The switch is running ver 5.4(1)

And the MSFC is on 12.1(1)E

Could this possibly be the problem.

Re: Catalyst 6509 power-bad status

OK. So your catalyst is running in Hybrid mode. Then use "reset 3"

Lee

Now, I have seen that module requires minimum supervisor engine software version 8.4(1).

So you have to upgrade your Supervisor Engine software in order to support that module.
