I'm not able to set Portspeed to Gigabit, only auto is possible

dcdwx101/#conf term

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

dcdwx101/(config)#int gi0/1

dcdwx101/(config-if)#speed ?

10 Force 10 Mbps operation

100 Force 100 Mbps operation

auto Enable AUTO speed configuration

dcdwx101/(config-if)#speed

Is that by design ? Or problem of IOS-Version ?

It's by design, no problem with IOS.

Please take a look at

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/1214ea1/3550cr/cli2.htm#1891109

In this document, you can read about 'speed' command:

"speed {10 | 100 | auto}

Gigabit Ethernet ports can be configured to run at 10, 100, 1000 Mbps. To set a Gigabit Ethernet port to 1000 Mbps, set both ends of the link to 'auto'. "
