one customer asked me the maxism vlan intances C4006 SupIII can support.

He give me a formula:

Re: Catalyst4006 SupIII vlan instances

Hello,

I am not sure about that formula, but the 4006 with SUPIII supports a maximum of 4096 VLANs.

Regards,

Georg

Thank you for your reply.I have found this information on the version's release note. The maxism value is 3000.This parameater is relevant to the SPT instance.

Re: Catalyst4006 SupIII vlan instances

Sup3/4 supports upto 2500 based on the formula easily. Remember it does support 4096 vlans but you can't run per vlan STP on all vlans. The switch can easily do 802.1s and support upto 4096 vlans.

So the formula is useful only if you are running per-vlan STP
