Hi
We are planing to upgrade from Catos to native IOS.
Relating to the configuration, I dont know if any of you know a tool to translate a Catos config to a Native IOS config.
Thanks
Octavio

I do not believe there is a separate tool for this. It should be a pretty straight forward copy-paste for the MSFC configs:-)

Hi
It is good. But what about the MSFC configuration ?
It could be possible to get a IOS config from the Catos + MSFC configuration.
Thanks
Octavio

Hi Octavio,
Just to help you encounter less probable problems when
you convert from CatOS to Native IOS, don't forget the
"Skipped Commands" from the results of the Configuration
Converter. You might have some CatOS configurations that
the converter might not be able to translate. Examples are
some of the "set qos" and high-availability commands.
You have to manually check the Native IOS Command Reference
and Configuration Guides to make this work correctly.
And I don't suggest that you paste the MSFC config directly,
but do it part by part. We had the luxury of testing the
Native IOS config on a lab so we transferred the MSFC config
line by line. We didn't want to encounter too much problems
and we wanted to have an 'almost perfect' converted config.
Your switch could probably be the core switch of your network.
Goodluck!

Hi
I dont understand you very well. You say,
- first, paste the CatOS config in the translational tool. Take the native IOS config for the CAtOS config. (Native IOS 1)
- Second, paste the MSFC config. Take the native IOS config for the MSFC. (Native IOS 2)
And then, Native IOS config = NAtive IOS 1 + NAtive IOS 2
Thanks

Hi Octavio, I'm assuming your last post was addressed to me.
That's not, exactly, what I mean.
Sorry if you found my explanation quite poor.
I hope I can make it a bit simpler:
1. Paste the CatOS config in the translational tool.
Take the native IOS config for the CatOS config.
(Native IOS config for LAYER 2)
2. Take the native IOS config for the MSFC.
(Native IOS config for LAYER 3)
Native IOS = Native_IOS_(L2) + Native_IOS_(L3),
Since you will only have a single configuration for the
switch, L2 and L3 config will now be combined.
Please let me know if you still need some clarifications.
Thanks.

Hi
I understand you now.
It is not necesay to paste the MSFC config in the tool because it is IOS.
Thanks
Octavio
