I get this message on a 3620 router with a 2FE-2W module when I try to apply an input service-policy to one of the FE interfaces. The router is using IOS 12.1(5)T12. The router already has an output service-policy configured. Is this a limitation of the 3620 router or is it a limitation of the software?
I'm using some 3620s in our lab. I need to implement this on a 7507 router with a PA-FE interface w/ VIP2-50. Can I police/shape the traffic on the 7500 using input and output service-policies?
Thanks,
Niels

Policing can be be configured, inbound as well as outbound but Class based Shaping can be applied only as a outbound feature.
May be you are trying to do CBshaping and hence its not taking the service policy command in the inbound direction.

I first used a police 256000 32000 32000 conform-action.... command and got this message
Then I tried a shape average and it gave me the same message.
