CEF and show fabric

Hi,

When I do a show fabric on the 6500, I get the following results ;

show fabric

show fabric active:

Active fabric card in slot 5

No backup fabric card in the system

show fabric mode:

Global switching mode is Compact

Fabric module is not required for system to operate

Modules are allowed to operate in bus mode

Truncated mode is not allowed unless threshold is met

Threshold for truncated mode operation is 2 SFM-capable cards

Module Slot Switching Mode

1 DCEF

2 Crossbar

3 Crossbar

4 Crossbar

5 No Interfaces

6 Crossbar

7 Crossbar

8 Crossbar

9 Crossbar

Shouldn't the modules from 2 to 9 say it is using DCEF ??? WHy is only module 1 using DCEF ? I thought that CEF was enabled by default ? Why is it showing crossbar instead of DCEF?

Thanks

Re: CEF and show fabric

At least on our 6500/7600 boxes, DCEF means the

modules with a separate DFC (eg 6816), while

crossbar means a fabric-enabled module without a

DFC. DCEF is used in all cases, the difference is

whether DCEF is done on the PFC (Supervisor) or

on a card with a DFC.
