CFG example: Single Chassis, Dual MSFC, single-router-mode

I'd searched on the site, but wassn't able to come up with a good configuration example that suited me. I've got a 6513 chassis with two SUPs with MSFC PFC capability.

I'm using EIGRP as a routing protocol and just moving IP between two VLANs (for now). Does anyone have a good config example for a single-router-mode?? I need the MSFC config, not the SUP config per se.

Hi Alex,

for an SRM sample config, please see the 6500 high-availability white paper:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_white_paper09186a0080088874.shtml

As far as intervlan routing is concerned, all you need to do is bring up two vlan interfaces, assign them an IP address, and configure the devices in your vlan with a default gateway that points towards the IP address of VLAN interface in their subnet.

If you also need eigrp, simply configure it as usual. Nothing special there.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for this info... Question, in Single-Router-Mode, is it true that I don't need the Standby Groups & associated weights, since only one router is visible on the network at once?

Correct. Dual router Mode uses HSRP for redundancy so there you would need the standby groups, etc.

With single router mode only one MSFC is active, therefore this is not needed.

You would only need it if you implement redundancy with a second chassis.
