My 2620 router took a power hit today. When I got the router back up the config register had changed to 0x2142. Does anyone know why this would have changed

Hi,

with that confreg the router ignores the start-up configuration on the next reload.

Maybe for a password recovery ...

See that:

I understand what the 0x2142 is. Prior to the router losing power it was set to 0x2102 as it should have been. What I am trying to determine is if a loss of power by itself would have caused the register to change or if some other influence could have caused this.

Thanks

Hi Joe

Do make sure that you are saving the configuration once you do some changes in the config before rebooting so that you can avoid configuration loss.

I make sure I do save the configuration after any change. We have lost power before without the register changing
