this shows the int as dte where as on the one above shows dce. When I try to enter the "clock rate" command to issue the clock rate I get "%Clock rate is ignored on DTE interfaces. ". How do I change this to dce, does the controller have to be connected first or is there a command for this. I didnt seem to need to do this for the working 2600, I just enter the clock rate command and it worked fine. Any advice would be appreciated.
For starters your 3600 s1/3 says it is Administratively down, you will need to do a 'no shut' on the interface to begin.
For the DCE/DTE it is based upon the cable type. Cisco can sense which pins are wired up when you plug the cable in. You currently have a DTE cable plugged into the router. You will need to go and purchase a DCE cable.
