i changed a NM4E to NM2FE2W recently but the router, a 3620 with ios version 12.1 did not recognize or sh it in any sh command could you pls assist me in telling what could be wrong and a solution to the problem?
NM-2FE2W requires at least 12.0(7)XK or 12.1(1)T. The letters XK and T indicate that these are Early Deployment releases. Early Deployment means the image contains new features or functionality (like support for the NM-2FE2W) that Cisco is getting to market without waiting for 12.2 or 13. The reseller who sold you this NM should have verified this for you, as they have access to the Hardware/Software Compatibility Matrix ( http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/front.x/Support/HWSWmatrix/hwswmatrix.cgi ) and other online tools to help. If you don't have an appropriate image, the reseller should be able to get it for you.
