Can you change the native vlan on a 5500?
I have a 5500 connected to a 8540. The 8540 subinterface for VLAN 1 has "native" defined.
If I want to configure a different subinterface/vlan for management, do I have to remove the "native" statement from the other subinterface? Once I change this will the new native vlan show up in the 5500?

yes you can.
You may change the native VLAN on 5500, if needed, by using the following command:
cat5509> (enable) set vlan
here
Be sure to use it same across your network if you plan to use vlan tagging.

For 802.1q trunks the native VLAN can be any valid VLAN ID, for ISL it has to be VLAN 1

There is no native VLAN on ISL trunk. Native VLAN is a term used only on 802.1q trunks - frames in this VLAN have no tag. On an ISL trunks all VLANs are tagged.
