Changing RSM trunk in 5500 to dot1q

Hi,

We have a Cat5500 switch with an RSM installed in slot 7. In order to change the default backplane trunk mode to dot1q (rather than use the ISL default) to the RSM, I was going to issue the following command:

set trunk 7/1 on dot1q

Are there any caveats or issues that I should be aware of when changing this internal trunk? Any advice welcome.

Thanks, Chris

Re: Changing RSM trunk in 5500 to dot1q

Chris,

An RSM default, and is only capable, of ISL trunking. If you issue your "set trunk" command you should see the following:

Incorrect trunk type specified for module

Allowed trunk type is isl.

Hope this helps you,

Don
