Anyone have a script I could use to modify the names of switches on my network? I have to modify half of the name of each switch to a building mneumonic so that we can tell where all the switches are located by looking at the name. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are these IOS switches?. You can look at sysName (.1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5) Definition= 'An administratively-assigned name for this managed node. By convention, this is the node's fully-qualified domain name', from RFC1213-MIB which has MAX-ACCESS of read-write.

They are 3550 switches. I am supposed to give provide a standard naming convention and apply them to all current switches without interupting service. Ex. of current name BLDGA-48-I03-33 New name needs to be BLDGB-48-I03-33. Everything after the BLDGA needs to remane the same just the BLDGA needs to be changed to BLDGB.
