Chassis Serial number

Does the command show version give the same serial number as the Chassis serial number?

Example:

Is the serial number listed below the chassis serial number?

Hardware Version: 5.0 Model: WS-C4006 Serial #: FOX053xxxxx

This was from a 3548

Is this the Chassis serial #?

Motherboard serial number: FAB05xxxxx

Re: Chassis Serial number

You are correct.

The Cat 4006 output does list the chassis serial number.

In the case of the 3548.. you want to grab the system serial number not the motherboard serial number.

See below:

of memory.

Processor board ID FAA03xxxxxx, with hardware revision 0x00

Last reset from power-on

Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:30:80:96:30:00

Motherboard assembly number: 73-3904-08

Power supply part number: 34-0851-02

Motherboard serial number: FAAxxxxxxx

Power supply serial number: NONE

Re: Chassis Serial number

Is there any way to match (for ex. with a Catalyst 2948) the Serial Number that is on the sticker on the switch with the actual system serial number. For example, if I have a switch off-site and can't see the sticker. How can I go about finding that sticker serial number. As an example, (for one that I know) system serial number = JAB04470CYD; and the sticker serial number = FOX04372931. Is there a database online to be able to retrieve this information.

Thanks,

Geoff
