Cisco 1721 router VWIC-1MFT-E1 configuration problem

Hello everyone.

I have a Cisco 1721 router with VWIC-1MFT-E1 for ISP connection and it is configured with 2 channel groups. Here is my configuration:

controller E1 0

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-6

channel-group 1 timeslots 7-8

interface Serial0:0

description Internet Connection

bandwidth 384

ip address 81.x.x.x 255.255.255.252

!

interface Serial0:1

description VPN Connection

bandwidth 128

ip address 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.252

Now I want to make an upgrade with 4 timeslots (256 kbps) for my Internet Connection and when I configure the router for this upgrade I have a problem:

- both Internet and VPN connection goes down and I receive this messages:

-

000014: *Mar 1 00:00:28.935 UTC: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0:0, changed state to down

000015: *Mar 1 00:00:28.939 UTC: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface Serial0:1, changed state to down

….

000024: *Mar 1 00:01:08.911 UTC: %E1T1_MODULE-3-LINEFLAP: Interface Serial0:0 receiving excessive errored packets

000025: *Mar 1 00:01:08.915 UTC: %E1T1_MODULE-3-LINEFLAP: Interface Serial0:1 receiving excessive errored packets

- my router configuration is:

controller E1 0

framing NO-CRC4

channel-group 0 timeslots 1-6,9-12

channel-group 1 timeslots 7-8

interface Serial0:0

description $FW_OUTSIDE$ Internet

bandwidth 384

ip address 81.x.x.x 255.255.255.252

!

interface Serial0:1

description $FW_OUTSIDE$ VPN

bandwidth 128

ip address 192.168.x.x 255.255.255.252

I mansion that:

- the changing was made in both sites, my site and ISP sites

- the circuit line is checked and works fine

- the version of IOS is 12.3(1a)

Can anyone tell me what is the problem? It is some kind of limitation of VWIC-1MFT-E1 in Cisco 1721 Router? If it is can anyone provide me a link with these problems?

Thanks

Hello.. this happens if the characters of the E1 link does not match with your DOT.

Check for the framing, linecode, timeslots and speed with the telco.

Thank you for your answer but I forgot to mention something.

The ISP provides a wireless connection using a relay.

Everything is good, but when I change the timeslots for the Internet connection (upgrade with 256 kbps), in both sites everything stops working.

My problem is that the ISP says that his line works, the configuration of the peer router is ok (so is mine!).

My point is: if the problem would be a mismatch between those parameters the connection wouldn’t work even before modifying the timeslots.
