Cisco 2501 an two lans

Hi,

I have an old Cisco 2501 with 1 AUI port and 2 Serial Sync ports (smart serial 60 pin). It was previously being used with an external DSU/CSU for a T1. Now i want to use it to do some routing between two lans. However the issue is that I can use the AUI port with a converter to RJ45 and plug it into one lan side but how do I connect the serial port to the othe LAN switch which only has RJ45 ports. Is there is converter avialble? I searched for a 60M to RJ45 cable but apparently none exists. Any ideas how I can do this or if its possible at all? Any suggestion is appreiciated.

Regards

Re: Cisco 2501 an two lans

I don't think it's possible. The serial port is a WAN interface, usually used for point-to-point connection but it can also be used for multiaccess like

frame relay. But one point to take note of is that, a LAN (Ethernet) port is a multiaccess port usually connected to a broadcast media/segment.

Also, the AUI (Ethernet 0) port of the 2501 has a MAC address.

MAC addresses identify network entities in LANs.

The serial port has no MAC address.
