Hello,

I need information on how to go about upgrading memory on our Cisco 2501. I would like to upgrade the memory to the full 16MB's allowed.

What is the general cost of the memory? I have seen a wide range of acceptable memory ranging from $50 to $800 for 16MB.

INFO ON ROUTER BELOW:

Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software

IOS (tm) 3000 Software (IGS-I-L), Version 11.0(16), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

cisco 2500 (68030) processor (revision N) with 2048K/2048K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID 08899857, with hardware revision 00000000

Bridging software.

X.25 software, Version 2.0, NET2, BFE and GOSIP compliant.

1 Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 interface.

2 Serial network interfaces.

32K bytes of non-volatile configuration memory.

8192K bytes of processor board System flash (Read ONLY)

Thanks for your help :)

If you look at the DRAM Layout it has only one bank,

which means you have to remove the 4MB on board an

replace it with the MEM-1X16D.

If you have to upgrade the Flash as well, there are

8MB on board. The second Flash slot is empty and you

can install an additional 8MB Flash memory MEM-1X8F.

Thats how i figure this out from the Layout.

The differnce in price happens if you pay cisco mem,

or 3RD party product.
