Cisco 2600 setup

I have a Cisco 2600 doing nothing that I have been tasked with setting to replace an older router. I am fairly competent with Cisco router admin. It already has IOS version 12 loaded. I have already setup both interfaces with the proper IP addresses. When I turn the router on I get several error messages stating this.

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg (Timed out)

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg (Timed out)

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cityhall202-confg (Timed out)

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cityhall.cfg (Timed out)show flash

What does this mean?

Re: Cisco 2600 setup

This means your config register is configured to "netboot" which sends the router looking for it's config over the network.

Don

Re: Cisco 2600 setup

Give a "No service-config" on global configuration mode, to disable the above messages. The router is trying for Netboot.
