Cisco 3550's and IEEE 802.3af?

Hello,

We discovered to our chagrin today that the Cisco 3550-24PWR switches we've purchased en masse are not IEEE 802.3af compliant. Instead they are equipped with Cisco's proprietary pre-IEEE retified PoE spec and will not power our HP WAP's nor Axis security cameras.

I'm writing to ask a couple of questions;

1.Is there an IOS upgrade for the 3550-24PWR which would allow the switch/administrator to employ the IEEE standard?

2.In the event that this is not the case (which I think it isn't) what is the next non EOL Cisco switch in the same equivalency ballpark (ie 24-port 10/100 with 2 full-size GBIC slots, L2/L3 etc) available but with IEEE 802.3af compliance? Thank you!

Or you have to insert a power injector (802.3af compliant) between the 3550 and your devices. It should be cheaper than replace a new switch.
