Dear All

I have a few 3640 routers in my network with 10Mbps Ethernet connecting to 2900XL switches. I get on all of them lots of errors.

I was told previously to set the ethernet port to full duplex and set the switch to full/10 . I have tried and am still getting errors.Ethernet0/0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is AmdP2, address is 0050.7368.31c1 (bia 0050.7368.31c1)

Internet address is x.x.x.x/24

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 3/255, rxload 18/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never

Last clearing of "show interface" counters 6d02h

Queueing strategy: fifo

Output queue 0/40, 0 drops; input queue 1/75, 0 drops

5 minute input rate 725000 bits/sec, 170 packets/sec

5 minute output rate 142000 bits/sec, 151 packets/sec

55616586 packets input, 178831776 bytes, 12 no buffer

Received 591242 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

17252 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 17252 ignored

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

52738256 packets output, 1834410437 bytes, 0 underruns(751133/1791328/0)

0 output errors, 2542461 collisions, 0 interface resets

0 babbles, 0 late collision, 1798079 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

Can some one send me a config example of a router 10Mbps ethernet port to a Switch 2900xl that is running with no errors.

Regards

And you are 100% certain that these are not Fast Ethernet interfaces?

For Fast Ethernet interfaces this command is available and working.

On modules with the AmdP2-based ethernetcontrollers like NM-1E, NM-1E1R2W, NM-1E2W this option is NOT available under interface configuration.

Neither is the command media-type xx. The latter has also been referred to in this discussion but is only relevant for the 4000 series.

Our current release is 12.0(24) IP/IPX/AT/DEC plus. (ds-mz) We also use 12.1(17) but (unfortunately) not on routers with this type of controllers.

In the coming week I might be able to test this in the lab. I'll keep everyone posted.

Yes I am certain they are 10 mb cards I am running 12.0 T train

ps the media type command is 4000 series specific

To me, when one writes: 12.0 mainline, I assume one means the -GD- releases. So lets say I misunderstood. When you are running on a T-version this confirms the posting of mr Sjouw. This means that it is very likely that it also works in 12.1 and it definitely is IOS-related.

It may in turn help you to know that it is NOT implemented in 12.0(x) GD

Cheers
