Re: Cisco 4500-M access

Hello,

I have a litle (big) problem... :(

Was executed the command "erase startup-config" in a cisco 4500-M, and after this, the router was power off.

When the router was power on, it run automaticaly the "setup", but the user breaks this setup without specifing any configuration (secret password, ip addresses, etc).

Now, I can't access to the router, because when i connect to the console and power on, after the startup, the console port breaks.

If i connect to the aux port i can't enter in enable mode, because the system says "no enable password set" (that is right).

I try to access at ROM monitor to start the process of recovering a lost enable password (http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/779/smbiz/service/knowledge/general/recovery1.htm) to, after this, access at "setup" utility. The problem is that i can't access at the ROM monitor, although to try many break key sequences with many terminal emulation programs (http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/701/61.html).

This app will send the correct break command on ANY windoze or NT win2k XP box to a cisco router

Also check the pinouts of the cable and make sure your serial port is enabled too

I notice you don't manage to send a break key. This is familiar to me when working with a notebook. I assume you are using a notebook too with a small keyboard.

Try this, connect a normal keyboard to your notebook. then send the ctrl brk during boot up. It will work then.

Yes, i have used a notebook (with its small keyboad and with a normal keyboard).

I just have used also a normal PC with a normal keyboard and various terminal programs and dont result too. :(((
