Cisco 4948 IOS 12.2(25)EWA Issue (Stops Passing Traffic)

Has anyone had any problems or seen any bulletins on the Cat 4948 10 GE with the 12.2 IOS. We have had several of these switches at random that stop passing traffic. CPU utilization is normal and when this does occur the only way to connect to the switch is through the console cable. Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Hi,

I suspect you are running into CSCsb61172, fixed in 12.2(25)EWA5.

To verify if you are hitting this with certainty, check "show platform hardware interface all"

Global Hardware Gigaport State

FreeListCount : 329 <<<-----

Note that typical values of the free list count are between 20,000 and 64,000 depending on the traffic

being switched. A count of 329 above is too low and indicates a memory leak.
