I want to order the Dell 3248 and connect it via fiber to a GBIC port on a 6500. Has anyone done this yet? Also, if you have, do you happen to be using 802.1q for your VLAN setup. We havent got the time or money to test so I am hoping someone can tell me that Dells will talk to Cisco's via the GBIC and while running dot1q.
Thanks for any help!

If the Dell uses the 802.1Q standard it should work . Dell would certainly not be very smart if they didn't make their stuff compatible with Cisco gear , 802.1Q is the standard for trunking so it should work .

I completely understand that it SHOULD work but all you have to do is look at the 3COM switches to know that it does not always work. We tried to integrate 3COM switches into our mostly Cisco network and they wouldn't do 802.1q very nicely with eachother. That is why I am trying to find someone who maybe has already tried with the Dell's to make sure we don't get another 3COM situation.
Thanks for the response.
