Cisco 7140-2T3 Won't boot after looking at memory chip?

I have a Cisco 7140-T23 that I need to get back in production but I have seemed to messed the unit up some how.

The unit worked fine until I took the lid off to see the memory configuration it had.

I needed to upgrade the memory from 128m to 256m.

All I did was take the memory stick out of the unit, look at it, put it back in and try to boot the unit back up and all I now get is:

1.) Turn power on. Green light on power supply by AC OK comes on and a Red light by OTF comes on. Green light next to PWR comes on.. Fans come on..

2.) Green light next to PWR goes off.. Fans go off. Only thing shows on boot screen is:

System Bootstrap, Version 12.0(5r)XE, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Copyright (c) 1999 by cisco Systems, Inc.

On power supply Green light is on next to AC OK and the Red light is still on next to OTF.

Any clues as to what could have happened and how to fix this unit?

Thanks!

Re: Cisco 7140-2T3 Won't boot after looking at memory chip?

I only suspect that bootcode got corrupted somehow.

Try the workaround mentioned in this doc. http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/fn14484.shtml

and also take a look at the various troubleshooting resources at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/browse/psp_view.pl?p=Hardware:7100&s=Troubleshooting
