Cisco and Cabletron

I am looking at expanding our current network. I need to know if the 2948 will work with the Cabletron SmartStack Fast-Ethernet switch? Specifically, I am concerned about the fiber trunks between the two. I know the 2948 uses a GBIC and the Cabletron uses a FE100FX connector, but are these two "friendly"? I would be using the dot1q trunking protocol, but not sure if they've ever been tested. Please let me know either way.

The CAT2948G does not have 100BaseFX ports. CAT2948G has 48 10/100BaseT and 2 1000BaseX ports. So you'll have to use some media convertor inbetween. Cat2948G supports dot1q trunking and so you should be fine with trunking

Also we have CAT2948G(layer2) and CAT2948G-L3(layer 3 switch). Just an FYI
